Shanghai International Biennial Urban Sculpture Exhibition2005 opened on 19th afternoon at Xujiahui Park Greenland. Yang Xiaodu, vice mayor of Shanghai announced the opening of the exhibition.

The exhibition is the large-scale professional urban sculpture exhibition held by Shanghai for the first time which integrates creation, exhibition and transaction into an organic whole. And the exhibition has been listed as an important part of the 7th Shanghai International Arts Festival. The ultimate purpose of the exhibition is to focus on Shanghai Expo and establish a platform for the international exchange of urban sculpture.

Besides domestic artists, the exhibition also invited over70 artists from about 15 countries and regions including France, Britain, Germany, Italy and America and Canada etc.

The exhibition is open to the public, offering a golden opportunity for the citizens to contact with art by zero distance.
