Shanghai to be water-saving city by 2010

Shanghai aims at the building of a water-saving city by 2010, according to a press release of Shanghai Municipal government today.

An infrastructure for water saving will be established by the Expo, which will cover the industrial, civic, and agricultural water consumption, and industrial pollutants disposal.

It is reported that the water supply of the city is enough to satisfy the water need of economic and social development and the daily use of citizens at present. However, to save water is a must. Any water-saving technologies are encouraged. Meanwhile, stricter measures are taken to regulate the exploration of the city’s water resources.
