Shanghai Personnel Bureau revealed that Shanghai’s new civil servants will get acquainted with the local culture and Expo-related knowledge in the training program. In addition, they will participate in volunteer social work to help the underprivileged.

As almost 1/3 of the new civil servants are non-locals, it’s imperative to educate them about the city’s social and economic development, its characteristics as well as Shanghai Expo 2010. It will help them better understand the past and present of the city and have better judgments on social issues and Shanghai Expo. In addition, the civil servants will also be given lectures concerning protocol and manners etc. More skills of communication will be taught to help them establish better contact with people in the future.
