Shanghai International Mosaiculture 2006, an event to celebrate and exchange the world's horticultural achievement, will be opened on September 15 in Shanghai Century Park.

It is the first time for China to host this international event, which attracts 24 ovseas cities and organizations and 32 cities in China to participate. Altogether 89 masterpieces will be presented.

'The Focus on Expo', one of the 33 pieces produced by Shanghai artists, will be unveiled at the event. Designed and made by Shanghai Gardens (Group) Corporation, it features a camera lens that focus on Expo.

The event is regarded as a green prelude for Shanghai World Expo, attracting several local districts and companies to participate. Works, such as 'Height and Speed' from Pudong New Area and 'Beauty of the Lane' from Huangpu District, manifest the city's development and culture in different angles.

Overseas cities, such as Montreal in Canada, also come with many masterpieces. 'The stage of Montreal', which covers 700-square-meter area and weighs 170 tons, will be the biggest among all works. It features 13 artists circling maple trees, presenting a happy and artistic Montreal.
