Yang Xiong, a member of the Organizing Committee of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai, executive deputy director of the Executive Committee of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai and the city’s vice mayor, is leading an expo promotion delegation to the United Republic of Tanzania in Eastern Africa.

Yesterday, accompanied by China’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Yu Qingtai, Yang met with David Mathayo, Tanzania’s deputy minister of Ministry for Industry, Trade and Marketing in Dar es Salaam, the country’s capital. They had an in-depth talk on the topic of Tanzania’s participation in World Expo 2010 Shanghai.

China and Tanzania have enjoyed long-standing friendly relations. Tanzania is the first African country the Shanghai expo promotion delegation has visited.

Yang also visited the Chinese Embassy in Dar es Salaam where he discussed with embassy staff economic developments in China, Shanghai’s economic development and urban reconstruction as well as the progress of preparations for World Expo 2010.
