The Expo promotion delegation led by Yang Xiong, a member of the Organizing Committee of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai, executive deputy director of the Executive Committee of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai and the city's vice mayor, arrived in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, yesterday and met with S.S.Boit, secretary of the country’s Ministry of Local Government.

Yang said the Chinese government had set aside a US$100 million fund to help developing countries participate in Expo 2010. He said he hoped Kenya would confirm soon that it will be part of Expo 2010 as China and Kenya have long enjoyed friendly relations.

Boit told the Chinese delegation that preparation work on Kenya’s participation was almost finished. He said a working team consisting of the Ministry of Local Government, the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry for Industry and Trade as well as the Council for the Promotion of International Trade would be established shortly and it will send out official confirmation of Kenya’s participation soon.

Kenya had sent highly praised exhibitions to the Hanover and Aichi Expos, Boit said. He said he believed that Kenya’s exhibits would also attract Chinese visitors at Shanghai World Expo 2010.
