An Expo Bureau officer wrote an essay for "Inspiration in Aichi Expo"

Shanghai Expo official website released a brand new column “Inspiration in Aichi Expo” recently especially to publish essays by those who have visited Aichi Expo.

Most of them are so eager to make their comments on it and to express their opinions and suggestions for Shanghai Expo to the local public. In their views it’s better to make efforts to obtain as much experience as possible from Aichi Expo this year so as to get well prepared for Shanghai Expo to be held soon in five years.

Zhao Keping currently wrote a short essay entitled “The Effects of Planning & Design upon Exhibition Themes” for the column shortly after his trip to Aichi. Zhao is Vice Director of Construction Coordination Department of the Bureau of Shanghai Expo Coordination now.

In his essay, Zhao states that Aichi Expo site is being constructed with least possible impact on the environment in order to fully symbolize and express the theme of the Expo “Nature’s Wisdom” and land development has been carried out to harmonize with the sizable undulations in terrain found there.

Three suggestions are offered in the essay for Shanghai Expo with the theme of Better City & Better Life after he had carefully dealt with planning and design in Aichi Expo.

Firstly is to make quite sure we can keep the balance well between planning and the invitation of business, exhibition and guests. Secondly is to make sure we can realize the influences of Expo Garden planning on the city’s whole development.

Thirdly, as he proposed, measures should be taken quickly to establish a smooth traffic system and to set up a rational layout for the pavilions as well.
