11 SOE signed participation contracts with the organizer of Expo Shanghai in Beijing in July 24, under the guidance of SASAC. A number of SOE will participate and build pavilions in Expo Shanghai under the theme of "Better City, Better Life".

Wan Jifei, President of CPPIT, Deputy Chief, Member of Expo Shanghai Organizing Committee and Executive Chief of Executive Committee, Huang Shuhe, Deputy Director of SASAC, Member of Shanghai 2010 World Exposition National Organizing Committee, Yang Xiong, Member of Municipal Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Mayor, Member of Shanghai 2010 World Exposition National Organizing Committee and Executive Director of Executive Committee took part in the ceremony and gave speeches. Zhong Yanqun, Standing Deputy Director of Shanghai 2010 World Exposition Executive Committee presided over the signing. Honghao, Vice Secretary General of Shanghai Municipal Government, Director General of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination signed contracts with representatives from CASC, Casic, Avic, CETC, CNPC, Sinopec Group, CNOOC, State Grid, China Telecom, China Mobile and China Eastern.

In the speech, Wan Jifei praised highly of the active corporate participation, the key role corporate participants played and good performance of local corporations from holding nation in the recent expos. He wished Chinese SOE would promote the effective combination of corporate participation and the Expo theme interpretation, the innovative combination of theme interpretation and visitors participation so as to make SOE a spotlight of Expo Shanghai, Huang Shuhe said in the speech that the joint participation of SOE not only greatly supported Expo Shanghai preparation but also created a rare opportunity for the development of its own. Expo Shanghai, being a platform of international exchange extension and cooperation, will create an unprecedent opportunity for the promotion of corporate image and interactive learning. He wished that the participating SOE could build pavilions with fine quality and unusual features.

Yang Xiong stated the importance of corporate pavilions in the World Expo history. The participation of SOE will help itself promote the competitiveness, share the business opportunity and showcase the corporate image and strength. He promised that Shanghai would provide full support and great service work to the SOE participation.

So far preliminary works of building site selection, theme explanation, and exhibition planning have already started.
