The Expo Shanghai Organizers will build a pavilion for disabled people during
World Expo 2010 as the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination signed the
Participation Contract with the China Disabled Persons Federation in the Great
Hall of the People in Beijing. The participants in the contract signing ceremony
includes many top level officials.
The pavilion, with the theme of "Equality, Participation and Enjoyment" aims
at "shining the light of care to every disabled person". Making full use of the
Expo theme "Better city, Better life", the pavilion focuses on the participation
of and interaction with the disabled visitors so as for them to further enjoy
the Expo experience. It is a window to showcase the civilized progress of
Chinese society and the great achievements of human rights protection in China
and calls for more efforts to eliminate the discrimination and bias against the
disabled people. It will be moved into the Commemorative Museum of the Special
Olympics after the Expo and be permanent.
The Life and Sun Pavilion set up in the Expo Shanghai aims at disseminating
the concepts of "Equality, Participation and Enjoyment" for the disabled people
over the world, conveying the humanitarian spirit of "shining the light of care
to every disabled person", interpreting the concept of“harmonious city”from the
viewpoint of disabled people, and further developing the "Better City, Better
Life" Shanghai Expo theme.
The demand for the disabled people was fully taken into account even during
the planning phase of the Expo Park. All Expo pavilions will include
disabled-access facilities. The organizer will also arrange volunteers to serve
disabled visitors.
The pavilion will be built by China Disabled Persons Federation with
assistance of Shanghai Disabled Persons Federation, located north of Urbanian
Pavilion in Pudong New Area.
