Production of Global Two-Way Satellite Transmission of Expo Shanghai Initiated

Greater attention is paid to Expo Shanghai once more as soon there will be only 600 days left towards the opening date. In order to learn from ex holders, to discuss future city development and to promote Expo Shanghai worldwide, production of global two-way satellite transmission of Expo Shanghai has been formally initiated recently under joint sponsorship by the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, Shanghai Municipal Government Information Office, and SMG. The production will take place in Osaka in Japan, Hong Kong in China, Paris in France, London in Britain, Sydney in Australia, Moscow in Russia and Vancouver in Canada. By the time, with joint production from mainstream local media, discussion on future city development and experience sharing of World Expo hosting will be held with guests via two-way satellite transmission, as well as the introduction of Expo Shanghai philosophy and preparation updates to build a harmonious atmosphere of cooperation for Expo 2010 Shanghai. Meanwhile, this is also a particular worldwide exhibition of Expo Shanghai with unique features in major global media.

The first stop will be in Osaka. Co-sponsored by NNN, programs was recorded in SMG OTV theater in Shanghai and NNN studio in Osaka simultaneously with interactivity in July 24 and set to broadcast on Aug. 2 and Aug. 15 in OTV and NNN respectively. Government officials, experts on World Expo, scholars and city experiencers from the two cities will hold "face-to-face" communication and discussion via two-way satellite transmission.

Osaka has been the sister city of Shanghai since 1980, the two cities have kept good relations in economics, culture, urban construction and environment protection. With the successful holding of Expo 1970 by creating a visit record of 64,200 thousand in a short period of 6 months., Osaka was also the first city in Asia to host an World Expo. All of these proved Osaka to be the prefect choice of the first stop of the production. Through the programs, the concept of World Expo as the ladder for human civilization evolution will be strongly demonstrated for the two cities with vast development potentials.
