On September 18, 2007 Kiribati became the 105th Member State of the BIE.
Kiribati is consisted of three principal archipelagoes, including 32 atolls
and a "high island". If the narrowness of the emerged grounds do of it one of
the smallest countries of the world (less than 811 km 2), their dispersion makes
it possible the Kiribati to assert a maritime zone of 3,550,000 km 2. The
Kiribati are with horse on the equator and the date-line, at the same time in
Polynesia and Micronesia, in the south of the Marshall Islands and of Hawaii and
in the north of Tuvalu, of the Samoa, of the Cook islands and French
Polynesia.
