 Marshall Island new Member State of the BIE

The Marshall Islands became officially member of the BIE the 12.09.2007.

Today, the BIE counts 104 Member States.

The Marshall Islands are a State of Micronesia.

The archipelago is made of volcanic islands and coral atolls; it is located at the east of the Carolines islands, the north of the Gilbert Islands and the south of the island of Wake.

Administratively, the Marshall Islands are divided into 33 municipalities: Ailinginae, Ailinglaplap, Ailuk, Arno, Aur, Bikar, Bikini, Bokak, Ebon, Eniwetok, Erikub, Jabat, Jaluit, Jemo, Kili, Kwajalein, Lae, Lib, Likiep, Majuro, Maloelap, Mejit, Mili, Namorik, Namu, Rongelap, Rongerik, Toke, Ujae, Ujelang, Utirik, Wotho and Wotje.

Capital: Dalap-Uliga-Darrit (the greatest urban unit)

Form of the State: Republic

Surface: 181 km 2

Population: 70.822 hab.

Density: 391hab. /km 2
