Vicente Loscertales, the secretary general of the Bureau of International
Exhibitions (BIE), attended a live web chat with netizens this afternoon from
2pm to 3pm at the Eastday.com studio.
Loscertales said he had very high expectations for the 2010 World Expo in
Shanghai, because Shanghai was one of the most prominent cities in
Asia and the world, with rich and long history.
Loscertales praised the revamp of the official World Expo 2010 Website before
kicking off the online chat.
In regards to the annual forum for the 2010
World Expo, which was held yesterday in Shanghai, he praised it as an event of
high quality, which collected many useful suggestions for
the development of the Expo theme.
Besides, he said he had a very positive assessment of the preparations of the
World Expo 2010.
Having regularly visited Shanghai since 1994, he said Shanghai was an
open and dynamic city, since he had witnessed the transformation of the
city in those 12 years.
During the one-hour chat, Loscertales answered more than 20 questions from
the 129 questions raised by netizens.
Questions ranged from the function of the BIE, the connotation of
the Expo's theme to the secret of Loscertales' successful career.
Loscertales responded to these questions with great enthusiasm and
