the under-construction World Expo Site

the under-construction World Expo Site
The World Expo 2010 site in the city will exhibit models of a "harmonious
ecological city" of the future during the World Expo, orgnisers said.
The Expo will showcase how to use clean energy and reduce emission. Visitors
will have a fresh experience of future cities, including watching how polluted
water becomes clean water and see how constructions can "float" above grassland.
The organisers also planned a cooler Expo by redistributing the cool air
above the Huangpu River to the Expo Site and using water sprayers along the
major roads and entrances in the Site to cool the air.
The venue's layout plan calls for a 300,000 square meter patch of green land
to be built along the Huangpu River in Pudong. It will be the city's largest
open green space, which will help regulate the temperature.
Planning for the ecological Expo is itself an explanation of the Expo's theme
-- Better City, Better Life -- and it is also an exploration of the harmony
between city and environment, said Wu Zhiqiang, chief planner of the Expo Site.
Visitors will not see the garbage trucks running in the Expo Site. The
garbage will be transferred by an underground pipe system.
If you have a wi-fi cell phone, the "digital tour guide" will lead you to the
Site.
