Zhou Hanmin, deputy director general of Shanghai World Expo Coordiation, today met with Dr. Michael Pulch, deputy head of a delegation from the European Commission of the European Union.

Zhou extended a warm welcome Pulch and said 20 of the 27 members of the EU had confirmed their participation in World Expo 2010 Shanghai, which was an encouraging sign to the organisers.

Zhou gave general information about the Urban Best Practices Area (UBPA) project of the Expo. Zhou said the UBPA would be a window showing the quality of life in the future and was an unprecedented project of the World Expo history.

The idea of UBPA has been well-received by the cities all over the world, Zhou said.

Pulch thanked Zhou for his talk, saying that the presentation was quite impressive and the figures of World Expo were mind-blowing.

Pulch asked the questions about the post-Expo situation, the huge flow of visitors expected and security problems.

Zhou said the organisers would use all kinds of communication methods, including mobile services, Internet and radio broadcasting, to distribute the traffic flow of visitors rationally and to cut down visitors' waiting time.

After the meeting, Pulch had a bird's eye view of the site from atop the Expo Mansion and visited the master plan exhibition hall downstairs.
