Australia's Queensland today announced that they will pour A$3.6 million
(US$3 million) into presenting a myriad of local arts, produces and culture to
the world in the Australia Pavilion in the World Expo 2010 Shanghai.
Peter Beattie, Premier and Minister for Trade of Australia's Queensland
government, said Queensland plans to participate in the Australian Pavilion in
the Expo.
Queensland invested A$1.4 million in World Expo 2005 Aichi. This time, they
are putting more money in to ensure Queensland make maximum impact at the Expo,
said Beattie.
"We are confident that the World Expo 2010 will provide a strong platform for
businesses, governments, and education and research organizations to cement
existing relationships with China and ignite new opportunities," said Beattie.
"Queensland also intends to develop a strong promotional plan to showcase
Queensland's capabilities to potential and existing business partners and the
world," Beattie said.
China is Queensland's third largest merchandise export destination, and the
largest source of international students.
The Australia Pavilion in Aichi 2005 attracted 71,000 visitors during the
special Queensland Week.
