Envoys from two international organisations in the Pacific Ocean region today
visited the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination and started participation
contract negotiations with the organisers.
Zhou Hanmin, deputy director general of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo
Coordination, presided over the negotiations with. Peter Dawkins, ICT and
planning manager of the South Pacific Tourism Organisatioin, and Glenys Miller,
Trade Commission Liaison officer of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
Zhou conducted a brief introduction to the delegation and said the pavilion
concept paper they submitted was quite "enlightening, very ambitious and
practical."
The Pacific Pavilion will cover 16 countries, including Fiji, Palau, Tonga,
and three international organisations. Ten countries in the region and the
organisations have confirmed their participation.
The pavilion will present white sand, coconut palms, rainforest, colorful
flowers to demonstrate the life of local residents.
The officials asked questions about financial aid, the participation cost and
activities during the Expo period. The organisers answered all the questions and
Glenys Miller thanked the organisers for their consideration and wished them a
successful Expo in Shanghai.
