Shanghai Expo today published a batch of medals made of precious metal with Expo mascot Haibao on.

The medals, all being made of gold or silver, are all in limited amount. The most valuable kind -- one kilogram 999 gold medals -- will be sold at a price of 318,000 yuan (US$44,228.09) and only 300 pieces are available in the market.

The cheapest kind is the silver medal of one ounce, which is sold at 360 yuan and 20,000 pieces are available.

Other kinds of medals are 1/2 ounce gold medals, 5000 pieces; one kilogram silver medal, 2010 pieces as well as a set of 1/10 ounce gold medal and a one ounce silver medal, 10,000 sets.

The sales of the medals will go nationwide. About 30 percent of the medals are distributed in Shanghai, said Li Jing, assistant general manager of China Golddeal Investment Co Ltd.

The medals are available for reservation in about 200 outlets in Lao Fengxiang jewelry store today. And the retail will start on Saturday or Sunday.

Expo issued a set of stamps and a First Day Cover to mark the debut of Haibao on December 19.
