The construction of China Pavilion, one of the core buildings for Expo 2010
started in the morning of December 18, 2007. Mr. Han Zheng (Vice Secretary of
Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Mayor of Shanghai, the First Vice
Chairperson of Shanghai 2010 World Exposition National Organizing Committee,
Director of Shanghai 2010 World Exposition Executive Committee) announced the
official start of the construction. It's a milestone in the course of
preparation for Expo 2010, and indicates the startup of construction for core
buildings within the Expo Site.
Mr. Wan Jife, President of China Council for the Promotion of International
Trade (CCPIT), Mr. Gao Hucheng, Vice Minister of Commerce, Mr. Huang Wei, Vice
Minister of Construction, Mr. Yang Xiong, Executive Deputy Director of the
Shanghai Expo Executive Committee and Vice--mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Wang Jinzhen,
Vice President of CCPIT, Mr. Zhang Xuebing, Standing Deputy Director of the
Shanghai Expo Executive Committee, Chief Executive of Pudong New Area
Government, Ms. Zhong Yanqun, Standing Deputy Director of the Shanghai Expo
Executive Committee, and Mr. Hua Junduo, Commissioner General for Shanghai Expo
attended the landmark opening ceremony presided by the Deputy Secretary--General
of Shanghai Municipal People's Government, Director General of the Bureau of
Shanghai World Expo Coordination, Mr. Hong Hao.
The China Pavilion, one of the permanent buildings for Expo 2010, will be
constructed by Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co., Ltd.
